Hiking in Point Roberts

There are two official parks where people hike in Point Roberts - and many other "informal" trails through private land that are frequented by horseback riders, walkers and casual hikers.

Monument Park

In 2008 a hiking trail of 951 feet in length, with five switchbacks was built. It descends 135 feet to the beach, a seven per cent grade—just slightly steeper than some grades on our Interstate Highways. Trails in the past were passable only by the very adventurous hikers or four legged creatures.
On each of the six trail sections, leading past a switchback, there are magnificent views filtered by the stately trees that rise from the steep slopes. The Trail leads to a very private beach with a perfect south west exposure for afternoon swims and picnics. There are many nooks where the beach meets the slopes where total privacy is assured.

Lily Point Marine Reserve

There are several hiking trails at Lily Point. Follow the path past the entrance gate. At the split ahead, follow the path straight ahead to views of Lily Point and Boundary Bay from the top of the bluffs. Both trails converge in a half mile near a viewpoint looking south across the Strait of Georgia to the San Juan Islands. A steep, primitive trail descends 200’ to the beach area from this point. Explore cobble beach and mudflats west and north from the point.
